Who We Are

Gembrook Riding Club is a small, friendly club and our aim is to enjoy our riding in a casual, relaxed, social atmosphere. Our members range from adult novice riders, riders with green horses to very experienced horse/rider combinations and we try to cater for all levels and interests. Our horses also come in many different breeds, colours, sizes and abilities (we don’t discriminate). We are primarily an adult riding club but will consider junior members if they have a parent or guardian who is also a club member.

Our grounds are located next to the Gembrook Community Centre, so we use their car park. We have one 60m x 25m arena and an adjoining smaller warm up area, holding yards and a couple of storage sheds for our equipment. You must be a club member to use the grounds, it is not open to the general public.

We have one weekend rally per month, which is held on the 4th Saturday and these are often instructional days at the club grounds with different instructors. We also do a couple of trail rides, cross country days, activity / games days etc. for a bit of variety. There are members who have instructional lessons every Wednesday morning and any club member can participate in these lessons.

Many of our members compete in a variety of equine disciplines including Dressage, Showjumping, Horse Trials, Showing, Navigation Rides and 3 Phase Equitation. We also have members who don’t wish to compete but just enjoy having lessons, trail riding and socialising.

Our club has a few fundraising activities during the year and the proceeds go towards ground maintenance, improvement of our facilities, equipment purchases, etc. Every club member is expected to help with these fundraising events, help with a few working bees and cater for one lunch per year.

Our club is affiliated with ‘Horse Riding Club Association of Victoria’ (HRCAV). Their financial year is from 1st Nov to 31st Oct each year. You can look at their website to find out about the association.
